Safety

Forbidden items
  • Jewelry, earrings, hard hair clips and barrettes
  • This is for safety; in the past, players have had earrings ripped from ears
Potential Risks
  • Dehydration - everyone needs to drink water at each break
  • Hot or cold - players are encouraged to tell their coach or the referee if they do not feel well
  • Twisted ankles or knees
  • Hit in head - everyone should learn about concussion injuries and how to treat
Other Rules
  • No slide tackles are allowed
  • "Heading" the ball is not allowed until the 12U level (at the earliest)
  • The referee may blow the whistle to stop play if a "dangerous play" condition arises
  • If your player has any condition which puts him/her at risk, please let your coach know as soon as possible

In case of injury (or possible injury)

  • If an injury occurs, all players are asked to "take a knee"
  • No one may enter the field unless the referee requests their presence
  • The referee will call the coach onto the field at his/her discretion
  • All teams are equipped with a first aid kit and ice packs
  • If your player is not feeling well after the game, please let your coach know as soon as possible
  • Coaches must complete an injury report for all serious injuries
