Weather
"Whether it's cold, or whether it's hot, we're going to have weather, whether or not!"
The soccer season means a variety of different weather conditions
Depending on the time of the year, we will have heat, humidity, cold, and chilly weather
Everyone - players, coaches, and spectators - needs to be prepared for the weather
Is the game still on?
All games are played as scheduled, rain or shine, unless thunder and lightning are present or in the event the weather worsens
Yes, we even play if it is snowing!
Always assume that the game is still on (especially if mild and no lightning)
All game play is at the sole discretion of the referee and/or the regional commissioner or his/her designee
Warmer Weather
Proper hydration of players and volunteers is essential starting at least 24 hours prior to the practice or game
Dehydration, heat exhaustion, heatstroke and sunburn are avoidable
Bug spray is highly recommended
Cooler Weather
In cooler weather, safety should be the
number one concern
of everyone
Risk of hypothermia, frostbite, and injury from numbness are avoidable
Everyone should dress for the weather
In cold weather, everyone should wear water-resistant gloves
Sweatpants are okay, but the uniform shorts must be worn over them
The official uniform socks must also be worn over the sweatpants
Sweatshirts are fine as long as they are worn under the jersey
Any hoods must be tucked inside the jersey; stocking caps are preferred for safety reasons, and also because the referee must be able to see the jersey number
Heavier coats are fine, but may not be worn when playing
